From the Editor
by Dan Staehler, Newsletter Editor
Due to complications beyond my control, the membership file was omitted from the last newsletter, it is being put at the end of this newsletter, but not in the newsletter online. The attached membership list does not have a '99 dues column in order to compress the size of the list to make it possible to put into the newsletter at a lower cost.
I apologize if you didn't receive the last newsletter because of a wrong address or if you were a new member, since at the last second we had to use a substitute publishing team who only had an older membership file to use as a mailing list. Plans are in the works to set up a backup publishing team. If you have any interest please contact any of our board members who are listed in the Officers, Teams, Committees column near the back of the regular bimonthly chapter newsletter.
As some of you have noticed there was an error in the last newsletter's Chapter Calendar column. Just as a reminder our fly-outs will now be held on the first Sunday of the month at 8:00 AM.

Facility Report by Ron
Champeny
Thanks to all who helped at our first
chapter
facility workday. We had a great turnout with
more than 24 members working together or
individually on about 10 projects. It is evident
that our members are not only very capable
but incredibly enthusiastic as well.
Our next scheduled facility workday is
Saturday March 20. We welcome two
additional members to the facility committee:
Russ Kaye and Tom Calenberg.

Program Committee Report
by Ron Champeny
In January the program committee
meeting produced
our 1999 calendar of events. At the regular chapter
meeting in February all members were asked to
review the proposed calendar and offer additions and
comments. We now have the following calendar of
events. Randy Finco is now the Program Committee
Chairman.

Chapter Mustang Social Event - Saturday, April 3rd
by Steve Roensch, Facility Committee Member
There will be a social event at our facility on Saturday, April 3rd. We
will meet at our facility at 2:00 pm for some flying and aviation talk. The
drawing for the 18 winners of Milwaukee Mustangs tickets is at 4:00 pm.
Then we will grill out (BYO food & drink) and continue talking airplanes.
The Mustangs are hoping to provide a player and/or cheerleader to draw the
winners. If not, we'll have the children in attendance draw the winners.
Please consider attending this social event - the kind we envisioned as one
reason for being an EAA chapter.
Board Meeting Minutes
by Russ Kaye, Secretary
February 1999
Present were: Howard Kaney, President; Richard Feldschneider, Vice President; Glen Brandt, Treasurer; Steve Roensch, Internet Webmaster; Ron Champeny, Facility Manager; Dan Staehler, Newsletter Editor; Russ Kaye, Secretary; Jim Dricken, Keith Brue. Committee and Treasurer reports were delivered. Glen noted that the excessive balance in the checking account should not mislead us as most of it is already allocated.>>A discussion was held on the Air Show proposed by Herb Baker and the possible level of participation by the chapter.>>Other discussions included the raffles, the open house, a membership event and dividing the facility committee into two separate committees. One will be concerned with the hanger area, the other with the meeting/education area.
Up, Up & Away
by Mark Hanrahan, Fly-Out Chairman
We are now well into the 1999 flying season, and trying a new day of the month to get together and enjoy flying to various destinations. This year the official monthly fly-out will be the first Sunday of the month, meeting at West Bend Air at 8:00 am with wheels up promptly at 8:30. Hopefully this will increase the participation in this chapter activity.
In addition to the monthly fly-outs, there are other activities in the works for 1999. Some of these are the annual fly-in campout on Washington Island in July with a day trip to Mackinac Island, another trip to the U.S. Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio, a tour of the Green Bay Flight Service Station, and a few others we are contemplating, such as Sun & Fun in Lakeland, Florida in just a couple of short months and a possible trip to Toronto and Niagara Falls through Canadian airspace.
The January fly-out, as most of you know was cancelled due to the Great Blizzard of '99. On Sunday, February 7, Chapter 1158 pilots Keith Brue, Randy Finco, Chris Good and Mark Hanrahan took turns as pilot-in-command transporting other members to Longley's Restaurant in Reedsburg, where we were joined by four pilots from the old Rainbow Aviation Club from the now closed Rainbow Airport in Franklin for the Sunday Buffet. Even though the weather was less than perfect, (we had to shoot instrument approaches at both Reedsburg and West Bend picking up just a trace of rime ice) the food was great and so was the conversation.
The March Fly-Out is scheduled for Sunday, March 7. Put it on your calendar now.

Which brings us to a total of 61 members currently in good standing.
Welcome aboard!
Mailbag
Letter from Ed Emanuel
The Sherwin Williams Paint Company and Bill Hemauer of Hemauer's Decorating
recently became very welcome names on the growing list of merchants and
businesses who have provided generous donations of materials and supplies to
Kettle Moraine EAA Chapter 1158. Located at West Bend Municipal Airport,
EAA 1158 recently purchased a large facility from Don Tesker of Tesker
Manufacturing in Saukville. Chapter members are completely renovating the
facility.
On Saturday, February 6th, the much needed paint was received, immediately
mixed, and applied to the inside walls of the large aircraft storage area.
Others in the large turnout of members, worked on other major projects;
cleaning, carpentry, installing electrical wiring and masonry, and making
lunch for the deserving laborers. Although good flying weather prevailed,
almost everyone stayed on the job until past quitting time; a good
indication of the high spirits of the members who are looking forward to
having their own "home base". The facility will serve as a community
aviation educational center, and will include a large meeting room, library,
airplane storage area, and areas for experimental airplane construction
projects.
Applications for membership in EAA Chapter 1158 can be obtained by
contacting Biju Daniel at bijudaniel@prodigy.net.
