This is a special issue in which our membership file is attached to the back. To afford this the content is therefore limited. We will publish one newsletter as such per year in order to distribute our membership file to those members who either do not have internet access, the correct word processing software to access the file, or a computer at all. This issue will be sent out to members only!

President's Message
by Howard Kaney, President
Well, Happy New Year, everyone. 1999 will prove to be an interesting year! In January, we'll have our Chapter's Annual meeting. Come to the meeting and hear about our chapter's visions and goals for 1999, some of our accomplishments for 1998, and about how you can help to make those visions a reality. You'll hear us talk about the plans we have, and have an opportunity to provide input on chapter events.
Already we've been recognized by a couple of organizations for our efforts. The Washington County Dare Program is actively seeking to partner with us and promote our Young Eagle's program. The DARE program is a tremendous community event, and allows us to work with the youth of the community. Perhaps some of those individuals will find an interest in aviation through one of these programs.
Our own EAA headquarters has followed the story of our chapter and it's efforts to find a facility to use as a base of operations. Notice a copy of a letter from Paul Poberezny elsewhere in this issue. It is our goal to create a first class operation. Oshkosh has assisted us in the past with speakers, materials and information. We want to make sure that provide those who come in contact with our chapter a sense of the spirit of EAA. The letters from Paul Poberezny and the Washington County Dare Program may be obtained upon request by emailing: eaa1158@hnet.net
Usually in January we hold a social event for all of our members. Look forward to that social event in March, when we can heat our own facility a little better, and when we've had more of a chance to tidy up our Meeting Area. We still look forward to being able to host that event in our own building. At many halls we're looking at $200 for hall rental, plus the cost of a catered meal. We hope to be able to save our members some money by hosting that event in our own facility. Should be a great time.
Please congratulate Mark Hanrahan on his odds making ability. He happened to schedule a chapter FLYOUT on the weekend of the only sustained blizzard warning in Paul Joseph's 29 years of weather forecasting. Better yet, show up at the airport on the first Sunday of the month, at 8:00 AM for our chapter FLYOUT's, and support Mark in our quest to increase our involvement in this chapter activity. You are interested in airplanes, correct? You like to fly? You need to eat somewhere. And you don't mind chatting with a few friends? That's what it's all about. Again, 1st SUNDAY of the month, is our 1999 scheduled chapter flyout, which is a change from last year. Hope you can attend.
Look forward to many great events in 1999. Hope you can make many of the chapter meetings!
